Same! I think the variety is fun, but it may also give the feeling of a more custom and personalized response. With a standard multiple choice question you usually have 5 answers, but what if you're in between two of them? This could give the feel that your response more accurately reflect your feelings.
On the flip side, it's a slightly higher effort for users vs tapping a button, so who knows...
